SUV/Crossovers Europe's largest passenger car sector

Every 3rd new car bought in Europe today is an SUV-Crossover

Consumersí love-affair with trendy SUV-Crossovers shows no sign of ending any time soon. On the contrary, AIDís exclusive figures reveal that during this yearís first half the sales share of these conspicuous fashion motors soared to yet another new all-time high. By conventional historic measures, the underlying growth and momentum of this sector overshadows anything seen in Europe in recent memory

Never in West European car sales history have SUV-Crossovers attracted so much passionate consumer interest as today.

AIDís autoindustry observers now take the view that the stored up heat in the sector is such that this year's total sector sales in Western Europe are guaranteed to set yet another new all-time high.

Thatís both in terms of annual sales volume and sales share.

This yearís first-half, apart from Volkswagenís sector-leading Tiguan, other star performers in West Europeís SUV-Crossover best-sellersí chart were Nissanís forever popular Qashqai, and Renaultís Capture. Whereas VWís Tiguan and new T-roc made the top ten this first half, newly formed PSA Opel-Vauxhall had three models in the top ten best-selling SUV-Crossovers, thus shedding some more light on PSAís near miraculous financial turnaround.
