Vans outperform both cars and trucks this first half

LCV Europe 2018 sales

The market for light commercial vehicles up to 3.50t GVW, typified in broad brush terms by Renaultís Kangoo on one end of the weight scale and Fordís Transit box van on the other, still stands out as the best performing sector in this yearís West Europeís vehicle market

So far this year, the Light-Commercial-Vehicle (LCV) segment has posted five healthy looking gains in five of the past six months. But apart from cold headline statistics, West Europeís LCV segment also deserves added scrutiny because these distinctly unglamorous trade vehicles are also among the most profitable vehicles most mass car makers sell. 

LCV demand, thanks in large measure to the seemingly inexhaustible expansion from Europeís online shopping boom, has continued to outperform all of the regions other main vehicle sectors. Compared with West Europeís still growing passenger car market and the market for heavy trucks, LCV demand continued to outpace both sectors
