Refreshed Nissan LEAF
takes ZOE’s long held European BEV sales crown

Western Europe top selling electric BEV models 2018

With 11,441 units (+ 48%), Nissan’s refreshed LEAF ranks as the best-selling electric car (BEV) in Western Europe by the end of April. With 3,309 sold units this April alone, the newly revitalised LEAF also took top honours in West Europe’s April BEV market

AID’s exclusive BEV sales figures reveal that during this year’s January to April period Nissan’s revamped LEAF nudged aside ZOE, its long-leading Renault cousin.

ZOE, with largely unchanged West European sales at this year’s one-third stage, slipped back into the less glamorous runner-up slot.

By contrast, with four months sales up almost a half, buoyed in no small measure by a sales blitz in BEV sector showcase Norway, Nissan’s refreshed LEAF took top honours in the league.

This first third, Renault’s ZOE was second.

The third slot went to BMW’s i3, following a 7.7 per cent rise in year to date sales.

According to AID’s own figures, the title of biggest gainer in the leading pack went to Volkswagen’s supply strapped e-Golf, followed in turn by Tesla’s Model S.
