Volkswagen Europe Market share history

Aprilís new car sales in Western Europe provided Europeís motor barons with yet another reason for cautious satisfaction; none more so than with market leader Volkswagen

Already one third through the year, the Volkswagen brand still stands out as one of the most notable winners in this yearís West European new car market.

Earlier widely shared expectations of a company struggling to remain airborne in todayís hostile skies clearly didnít materialise.

Far from getting shot down in flames because of its starring role in the still lingering toxic cloud of the dieselgate scandal, in Western Europe the Volkswagen brand comfortably outperformed this yearís market.

Whichever way this yearís West European new car sales are looked at, the Volkswagen brand, in clear gravity defying manner, stands out among the marketís biggest gainer.

Thatís a 7.8 per cent uplift in cumulative car sales which helped boost its four months sales by just over half a percentage point to 11.2 per cent.

But thatís not all.
