Mitsubishi has highest plug-in sales share in Europe

Mitsubishi, thanks in large measure to the striking popularity of its Outlander PHEV – today’s top selling PHEV in Western Europe - has the highest plug-in share in Western Europe. Some 17.2 per cent of the new cars sold by Mitsubishi in Western Europe during the ten months to October this year were fitted with an electric plug. That’s 15,800 sold plug-in cars, made up almost entirely of the company’s still popular Outlander PHEV, according to exclusive AID sales estimates 

Exclusive AID compiled data shows that nearly two-in-ten Mitsubishi cars sold in Western Europe in the ten months to October this year were plug-ins. 

That means that Mitsubishi, apart from Tesla’s 100 per cent share, has the highest plug-in share in Western Europe. 

But this rosy Mitsubishi picture is partial and skewed though, chiefly because some 42 per cent of the company’s Outlander PHEVs were snapped up in just one single market. 

That’s some 6,300 Outlander PHEV sales in the UK, followed in turn by Norway and Germany, where this year’s respective ten months sales reached some 3,150 and 1,922 units.
