West European Electric Car sales quarterly history

Those with a vested interest in the electric car market breathed a collective sigh of relief as AID compiled figures showed a strong 38.6 per cent jump in West Europe’s September electric car registrations, reversing four straight monthly declines.

September’s strong rebound, ostensibly sparked by the initial big splurge from Tesla’s only recently arrived Model X and the showroom arrival of BMW’s higher driving range i3, resulted in a near tripling of Tesla sales this September.

Tesla’s outwardly impressive surge, AID’s own figures reveal, was due principally to close on 1,500 Model X registrations in September, representing one-in-two Teslas registered in Western Europe that month
