The Mercedes car brand, this July, remained resolutely in the fast lane and also set a new milestone by breaching for the first time the 1 million car sales barrier after just 7-months.
In otherwise slowing China, which overtook the US as Mercedes’ biggest overall car market in both July and the year to date, Mercedes’ July car sales rocketed ahead by 41.5 per cent to 29,540 cars, boosting the total sold there since January this year by almost a quarter to 194,861 units
For the status-laden prestige sector cars from Germany’s segment leading BMW, Audi and Mercedes driving on still partly unrestricted domestic autobahns there is only one speed.
Fast, pedal to the floor motoring.
Unlike compatriots BMW and Audi, which of late have lifted their right foot off the throttle, Mercedes kept the pedal nailed to the floor.
Although for some China’s streets are no longer paved with gold, Mercedes is still finding hordes of willing takers for the status-reeking top-notch derivative of its profit-laden S-Class luxury barge.
Since launch this February, Chinese sales of its profit-laden Maybach derivative are running at more than 500 a month,
