Europe’s ongoing love-affair with 4-driven wheels

Europeans, it seems, have not only retained their passionate love-affair with latest SUV-Crossovers, which still stand out as the region’s hottest sector, almost the same goes for consumers’ unwavering appetite for all-wheel-drive vehicles of all types.

The ongoing popularity of the 4WD option can be judged from the fact that last year the take-up of this increasingly trendy option reached new all-time peaks in nine of W-Europe’s markets. 

It includes major countries such as Germany and the UK where according to ACEA last year’s 4WD car sales share zoomed to a respective 15.8 and 11.7 per cent. 

Switzerland, with last year’s highest-ever 4WD sales share of 37.5 per cent, still stands out as Europe’s undisputed 4WD capital.

Latest state of the art four-wheel-drive systems, whether fitted to an SUV, a Crossover or even a conventionally bodied passenger car like Audi’s A4, are more popular than ever
