Porsche drops conventional hybrids in favour of plug-ins

Porsche plug-in hybrids PHEVs

As a likely precursor to what a financially viable future holds in store, Porsche has switched emphasis and appears to have thrown in the towel on its first-time attempts to get some traction with pure hybrids. 

Instead, for both its present day Cayenne SUV-Crossover and Panamera luxury saloon Porsche is now putting its money on plug-in hybrids. 

Although unconfirmed, it is seen as a sign as to which way VW Group’s alternative drive technology is now heading. 

Today, both of Porsche’s Cayenne and Panamera PHEVs can be driven in pure electric mode for up to 36km
