Slip, sliding away - Domestic Lada
Bruised and battered look to both Ladaís and Fordís Russia business

Whichever way latest Russian autoindustry statistics are analysed, the overriding view is that the entire industry, with few notable exception, is suffering a dismal year. 

None more than Russianís own AvtoVaz, thus continuing a deeply entrenched trend into a downward direction.

Russiaís intensifying domestic car sales famine has hit Lada harder than most. 

Its eight months sales to August fell at nearly twice the market rate, thus trimming its long-slipping domestic car sales share to just 16.7 per cent.

That compares with 18.1 per cent at the same stage last year. 

Its renewed slide down the slippery slope has again focused observersí attention on Ladaís seemingly unrelenting woes. 

All of this throws a timely spotlight on the extent of Ladaís bloodletting in a market that still accounts for the lionís share of its annual sales. 

In the last seven years, Ladaís car market share at home has halved, plummeting from 38 per cent in 2006 to just 17.6 per cent during the course of last year
