Paving the way for the achievement of its ultimate US sales goal of some 800,000 cars in the crucial US market by 2018 has left Volkswagen no real alternative but to also build a trendy and yet keenly-priced SUV-Crossover at its currently underutalised US Chattanooga vehicle production facility. The plant currently builds the Passat, which is aimed principally at US consumer favourites such as Toyota’s dominating Camry and Honda’s Accord Volkswagen Group this week has confirmed plans to add a second vehicle range to its only recently built US vehicle plant at Chattanooga.
