Is this the first hurrah for Opelís determined comeback?
Whichever way latest West European car sales figures are analysed, GMís long-battered Opel/Vauxhall offshoot now resembles a brand that is slowly on the mend

That at least in the message from AIDís own provisional latest figures that show Opel/Vauxhall with a markedly faster than average double-digit car sales gain in West Europeís June market, boosting its car sales share for the month by half-a-percentage point to 7.6 per cent. 

Likewise, Opel/Vauxhallís half-year sales also outpaced the regionís rise in sales, lifting the brandís car sales share for this particular half-year spell to close on 7 per cent.

Thanks to a new line of products that consumers want to buy, chiefly its Crossover Mokka, endearingly styled Adam and recently refreshed Insignia, Opel/Vauxhall now resembles a brand that finally may well be on the mend.

Defying earlier alarmist talk of unstoppable decline, judged from its most recent showing in the region Opel/Vauxhall has finally found a firm footing on the no-doubt long and still arduous recovery path. 

Thatís reinforced by latest provisional numbers. 

The brandís June sales rose more than twice as fast as the overall market 

Its continuing good showing in the UK, flanked of late by good efforts in both Germany and Spain appear to be at the root of its promising recent trading success. 

It bodes well for the brandís Herculean efforts to arrest and finally reverse the long entrenched slide down the slippery slide.

Since 1993 Opel/Vauxhallís car sales share in Western Europe has almost halved, eroding progressively from a recent peak of 12.6 per cent in 1993 to a lowest ever 6.7 per cent in 2012.

Since then, however, Opel/Vauxhall has staged a determined comeback effort that now appears to be bearing fruit
