Europe sees 10th good car sales gain in a row Ė June up 3.8%
Halfway through the current year sales have already topped year ago levels by 5.4 per cent

Juneís renewed car sales gain, the 10th successive rise in a row, keeps hopes alive that this year's West European car sales recovery, following four successive years of shrinking sales, will lose little or no momentum during the second half, according to AIDís own compiled figures. 

Halfway through the current year sales have already topped year ago levels by 5.4 per cent, keeping the market on track to exceed the 12m sales threshold once more after a long-drawn out car sales drought that first began in 2008.

West Europeís June car sales, despite a previously unexpected 1.9 per cent dip in Germany, edged up 3.8 per cent nevertheless thanks to positive numbers in all of the regionís remaining main markets, keeping industry hopes alive that this yearís unwavering car sales recovery remains firmly on the rails. 

AIDís provisional data reveals that June car sales were up on a year ago in a dozen markets. 

Of the 17 West European markets regularly monitored by AID, and apart from Germany, where June sales eased back by a modest 1.9 per cent, only Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria and Switzerland did not record a June car sales gain. 

By and large, Juneís upbeat sales picture was mirrored in the half-year picture. 

Apart from Germany, where half-year sales are still up 2.4 per cent on a year ago, at the halfway point, just Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria and Switzerland were the laggards of this yearís otherwise healthy looking regional car sales recovery
