Volvo failed to capitalise from Saab collapse on its doorstep
Saab’s dive didn't benefit Volvo, the last remaining car maker based in Sweden

To no one’s genuine surprise, given the collapse of Saab, Volvo was last year’s most notable winner. 

It gained just over one percentage point of domestic market share last year. 

But what has been a surprise to some observers of Sweden’s car sales scene, the headlong dive in Saab’s domestic car sales share seen since the early 2000s did not, as expected by some, benefit Volvo, the last remaining car maker based in Sweden.  

What recent figures are saying is that the 10 per cent or so market share still held by Saab in the early 2000s, ended up in the pockets of importers
