Spain’s and Italy’s car market currently operate at only half the levels still seen during the corresponding period in pre-crisis 2007, exclusive AID investigation reveals
Good progress, but the vast majority of West Europe’s markets still remain miles short of the car sales levels seen in the halcyon pre-crisis days of 2007,
according to AID compiled data.
A handful of markets have bounced back already, but in spite of a promising green-shoot recovery, most markets still operate well below pre-crisis levels.

One-third through the current year, and the outwardly encouraging car sales bounce seen in the wider West European region still hides the uncomfortable truth that in the vast majority of markets underlying car recovery growth still has a lot further to run before their respective new car markets have finally reach the pre-crisis levels seen in early 2007.
An AID compiled car sales comparison between this year’s first-third and the same four months spell in pre-crisis 2007 reveals that just two of Europe’s five main markets have returned to pre-crisis car sales levels.
