Strengthening green shoots spotted in Germany’s recovering car market

The 4th car sales gain in the past 5-months adds credence to the now widely held view that Germany, Europe’s biggest car market since time immemorial, has finally entered a sustainable road to recovery

Coming in the wake of single digit sales gains in both December and January, February’s German car sales rose by a further 4.3 per cent, thus bringing the market’s cumulative gain after two months to 5.7 per cent, according to KBA figures.

While today there is hardly anyone willing to shout it from the rooftops, the consensus private view among industry thinkers is that at long last the market is on the mend. In the cold light of day, February’s renewed car sales gain, the fourth rise in five months, shines light to strengthening green shoots in Germany.

A familiar sign of strengthening confidence in Germany’s business community, of late demand for luxury cars has taken a significant turn for the better.
