SEAT headed the groupís upwardly mobile with a striking 10.7 per cent sales gain in last yearís slightly smaller overall car market. 

Outperforming last yearís weaker market helped catapult SEATís full year car sales share to 2.4 per cent, almost half-a-percentage point higher than a year ago.

Its unwavering climb in what still ranks as a gloom laden car sales year, was due in large measure to last yearís simply outstandingly good showing in Germany, where its sales shot up 22.4 per cent to 83,364 units, boosting its share to a highest-ever 2.8 per cent for the year. 

Thatís in a year when the overall German market dropped below the 3 million mark for only the second time since unification.
