Europe’s November car motor dogged by renewed misfire

German traffic getting snowed under once again in November

After a promising-looking rebound during recent months, with West Europe’s new car sales topping last year’s poor levels in three out of the past four months, in November at least one cylinder was misfiring again.

Acea compiled figures reveal that West Europe’s promising-looking rebound in new cars sales, after
just a few months of a hesitant recovery growth, has slowed to little more than crawl.

Directly following promising gains of 5.5 and 4.2 per cent during September and October, in November West Europe’s underlying car sales recovery has lost a great deal of momentum. 

November’s poor turnout, with sales beating last year’s same month’s level by a mere 0.8 per cent, is a serious setback for the motor industry, which had hoped that the sales gains seen during recent months would mark the beginning of the long-awaited recovery in demand for new cars
