West Europe’s car sales activity continued to expand in October

It's been a long time coming, but after navigating some of the most stormy and treacherous seas for the past half-dozen years, finally the signs are that West Europe’s badly battered car market is slowly turning towards notably calmer waters. 

Registrations of new cars in Western Europe rose by 4.2 per cent to 974,900 in October as recovery growth spread to the vast majority of markets. 

Of the 17 West European markets, only Italy and Belgium and Greece did not record an October increase.

West Europe’s car sales activity continued to expand in October but at a slightly slower pace than in September, according to Acea figures. 

Sales of new cars in the region rose 4.2 per cent last month, coming in the wake of a slightly faster 5.5 per cent rate of car sales growth only the month before, marking the third rise in sales in four months
